Friend of Plant a Tree on Me:

A Green Cemetery Project

Friends of Plant a Tree on Me is a non-profit organization that is working to create a green cemetery in Western Washington. As green burials become more popular, we are reminded that green burial is not new. It is a way to reclaim the tradition that helped families begin heir grieving process, while also allowing our bodies to return organically to the earth.

Why choose a green burial?

Personal Reasons. Some people choose a green burial because they find comfort in the idea of their body returning to nature. Others may choose a conservation burial, where the burial fees help protect the land.WordPress block patterns offer a powerful way to create predefined block layouts, enabling users to quickly design pages and posts with a consistent look and feel.

Environmental Impact. Green burials are environmentally friendly because they don’t use embalming chemicals or non-biodegradable materials, and they don’t have the carbon footprint of cremation.

Space. Green burials take up less space than traditional burials because they don’t use caskets or require concrete vaults like many cemeteries require.

Cost. Green burials are typically less expensive than traditional burials because they don’t require embalming or a casket.

Decomposition. Green burials allow the body to decompose naturally, which some consider a beautiful reminder of our connection to the earth.
